Sorry about not getting out a Newsletter since August, but the work load at the Johnson house and work at the job has been excessive.  That excuse is all I have.  If any of you have articles of interest for the group send them to me at the above email address.  I am sure if the article was of interest to you it will be for the other members also.

Has anyone of our readers listened in on the radio program “House calls” with Dr. Patricia Raymond?  She is on at noon on Fridays on WHRV-FM (89.5) on the FM dial.  You know her wit and humor and she knows “her stuff”.  Listen for her program during your lunch hour and maybe give her a call and ask a question.  They cover a lot of different ailments maybe one of yours.

Dr. Raymond will be our speaker again this November for her usual informative talk.  Be sure to put that date on your calendar.  November 16th 7 p.m.  Call for directions if this is your first visit with us.

If you missed the September meeting you missed some really good food.  Many brought their favorite dish for us all to enjoy.  We even had cookies from a new company that most of us were not acquainted with.  Produced by Sunstart Bakery all Gluten free and made in Ireland.  Check out their website at www.sunstartbakery.com where you can get a sample of their cookies, 5 different boxes or about 50 in all for $21.00 including the shipping.  Pretty tasty too!

Have you tried Mrs. Leeper’s beef stroganoff mix with pasta and sauce all you need to do is, add hamburger.  It makes enough for about 4 good helpings.  They also have Cheeseburger Mac too just add hamburger and you have a quick meal in about 15 minutes.  The kids will love it.  (too cheesy for me though)  You can find this at 2nd Store House.  Tell Jeff I sent you.

Raleigh, N.C.-Oct. 4, 2004. Whole Foods Market® (NASDAQ: WFMI) today announced the opening of the Whole Foods Market Gluten-Free Bakehouse, the company's first dedicated gluten-free baking facility. Located in the Raleigh suburb of Morrisville, the new 8,000-square-foot facility will produce 27 products - including breads, cookies, scones, biscuits, pizza crusts, whole pies and brownies.  The gluten-free baked goods are now available at North Carolina Whole Foods Market stores in Cary, Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Durham and Winston-Salem.   Distribution will be expanding the availability for stores in Virginia, Kentucky, Maryland, south and west New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C., is expected by November.

Speaking of November that is turkey month and is also our theme for our next meeting.  Bring you favorite Thanksgiving recipes to share with the group.

Well that is it for this issue.  I hope you cast your ballot.  I did.

If you didn’t, don’t complain about the results.

And make certain no gluten or you will be toast!

One day, Mrs. Smith's dishwasher quit working. She calls a repairman and tells him, "Let yourself in to fix this. My bulldog won't bother you. But, do NOT, under ANY circumstances, talk to my parrot!"

The repairman arrives and finds a huge, mean-looking bulldog. As promised, the dog leaves him alone.

But the parrot drives him nuts with constant yelling, cursing, and name-calling. Finally, the repairman can't contain himself and yells, "Shut up, you stupid bird!"

To which the parrot replies, "Get him, Spike!"
